Yeah, it transmits locations and Adam can’t touch Gabby unless he wants to broadcast where she is for the bad guys. That complicates the romantic side of things.
I make one of them betray the other. It’s usually for something the betrayer can’t control, but the betrayee doesn’t know that, and there’s this huge thing. Trust is a big deal in relationships, so if you can break that down and toss it out the window, that causes quite the dent in the romance. Of course, then you have to build it back up…. Isn’t writing fun?

Oh you are mean! The second point here really proves it. That's just . . . genius. Seriously though, I don't know why I have difficulty. Maybe it's because I want to be sure to keep everything respectful while still being deeply emotional. Gauging where the line is that plunges a story into erotica (or just plain bad romantic writing) is a struggle for sure.Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07823808700523297184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9058478111996476699.post-47008595533774647022009-06-08T17:33:23.285-06:002009-06-08T17:33:23.285-06:00I like stories (and write stories) that have roman...I like stories (and write stories) that have romantic elements, but I don't enjoy reading solely romance. B

ut the thing is when YA romance is done right you are in that car with the boy you've been writing notes with your besties about for the past three years and he may or may not kiss you goodbye and you think you might just explode into a million pieces over the sheer possibility of the situation. Not straight-up romance, but there needs to be A Couple. Of course, the hard thing is making a relationship, but then keeping the two people apart for as long as possible. Unlike real life, you want them to be separated until the end so then the readers can have their "ahhh" moment. I hate authors who do exactly what I'm describing because it leaves me begging at their feet for a romantic conclusion, but hey. It works.

Rofl at the poster. :-)XiXihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05364953168828471897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9058478111996476699.post-66400869756558395592009-06-08T07:36:24.304-06:002009-06-08T07:36:24.304-06:00Awesome post Elana.
