WiP Wedne--Batman Blogger!

Yes, I get distracted easily. This was going to be a report of my progress. I'm going to get to it. Promise.

But Abby made the kewlest Batman Blogger badge based on my post last week. Here it is!

Then Eric made it into an award, and conjured up the image of me wearing a cape, leaping from rooftops. Um, yeah, who doesn't do that in their spare time? Pshaw.

So I forward the Batman Blogger onto these kewl peeps:
5. Carrie Harris - she loves superheroes! Yay!
Okay, onto Work in Progress Wednesday stuff. I'm so freaking excited to announce that my upcoming ebook, From The Query the The Call will be released soon soon soon! This ebook has everything an aspiring author needs, including (but not limited to) a step-by-step guide to writing a query letter, researching agents, sending submissions and fielding "the call."

It will launch just in time for the fall querying season on Monday, September 14, and you can click here to become a fan on Facebook. Anyone who helps me promote it by announcing it on their blog or website or facebook or twitter or whatever will get a discount! So mark your calendars, okay? Okay.

On the fiction front, I've been playing avoidance. But my current WiP only has about 7,000 unwritten words. I've set a goal to have those words on screen by Friday, September 18. That's only 500 words a day. Totally doable.

So what have you accomplished this week, writing or otherwise? I played tennis--got slaughtered--but that was a major accomplishment. I didn't make anyone cry last week, another major goal. What have you done?

  1. Wow! That's the COOLEST award ever! Whoever made that must be really awesome! Oh, wait! That's me! Just kidding. Sort of. ;) I'm glad everyone's getting so much enjoyment out from it.

Congrats on the ebook release! Yea!! I can't wait to read it. And good luck on finishing up your WIP.

My progress this week? Uuuuummm... I made some badges. I think there was something else I was supposed to do, but I don't remember. ;)

  2. Slow! Slower! Slowest! Such is my progress this week, though I only have 3 chapters to go on my revisions.

I made it to the halfway point in my 2nd 30 day challenge using the Wii Personal Trainer. Kicking! My! Butt! Oh, this is the intermediate level, I already completed the beginning level.

I've only been to Starbucks once this week - Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I survived Dinner Club on Saturday night. Whew!

  5. That's great news about your ebook! Did you change the cover? I like this one a lot.

I've been critiquing and getting critiqued this week. Not much writing happening.

  6. I'm slowing in my WIP trying to figure out what happens to my MC - there are 3 alternatives and I can't figure out which one will work for the best in the end (it's like playing chess -- I was alright at chess, but give me Stratego any day).

  7. Congrats on all your progress, Elana! We're about 20,000 words into our WIP, and we've got 4 more sections to go....so we've got a while, but we're super excited about the project, and we're adding words every day, so that has to be a good sign, right?

  8. Congrats on the award and your ebook!

My progress: "found" a character who gives my MC a respite from her travails, but could be trouble later.

    And the plot thickens!

Scott, glad you survived the dinner party. :)

Sherry, I know what you mean about sending queries making for queasy stomachs. Hang in there.

Kathryn, a troubled character? Sounds intriguing.

  15. My accomplishment? I discovered if I disconnect the internet in the basement, I've just reduced my distractions by 100% and upped my work count by 1,500 words per day. I also managed to read Blood Promise by Richelle Mead in one day and still got in 1,000 words on my wip. Only had four hours of sleep though, but it was so worth it. :D

  16. Awesome new award. What have I accomplished this week? I have not logged on to facebook once today, I have written a really long blog post, and had two aha moments relating to the character development in Raising Kain, and my rewrite is coming along nicely, slowly, but nicely.

BTW: congrats on the ebook, can't wait to read it. What epub is putting it out?

And, I must say that I have nominated you to recieve yet another Kreative Blogger award. Enjoy.

Also, I totally want to show my son that award. LOL He Luvs Batman. Congrats to your nominees. :-)

I just finished my hard copy editing stack. I have about thirty more pages to print out, read, and then it's time to input my changes. I feel productive right now. :-)

  25. That award is freakin' awesome!! And I agree that Carrie Harris is the perfect recipient. If you'd add eyebrows to the award, it'd be even better. :)

Congrats on the releast of your book! It's so great to have more information on the query process available to writers. :)
