First, then Second

Okay, first things first. Winners.

THE DARK DAYS OF HAMBURGER HALPIN by Josh Berk: Jemi Fraser!

SCONES and SENSIBILITY by Lindsay Eland: Sarah Fisk!

PRINCESS FOR HIRE by Lindsey Leavitt: Kathryn Jankowski!

Yay to you guys! I'll be emailing you later today to share the good news. WriteOnCon gets better by the hour, so be sure to join us on July 1 for registration. Check out the website for full details.

Second things second: Tell the Truth Tuesday

1. I'm summering. Yes, it's a verb. No exercise (not that that's a stretch). No stressing. I pretty much lay around reading or watching TV. So sue me.

2. I may or may not be addicted to Dreyer's lemonade bars. So it's tell the truth Tuesday. Fine. I'm totally addicted and have put a limit on myself of one per day. Sucks.

3. I cannot tell a lie: I started writing again. New project. Goal: 50 pages + synopsis by July 12. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

4. Just gotta say: WriteOnCon is gonna split the core with it's frawesomeness.

5. I have officially read 52 books this year. And it's only June. This is about 4 times as many books as I read last year. Rawr!

6. I am a total and complete loser. No, I mean it. Since I've been summering, I haven't been reading your blogs. But I'm going to. Really, really. It is tell the truth Tuesday, so I have to, or be like condemned or something.

What's your truth?

  1. I thought those Dreyers all fruit bars were like healthy. Guess not.

I'm relatively confident that with all the paying it forward you have done for all of us Elana you can get away with a few days (weeks) of summering and not reading/commenting. Enjoy.

  2. Yaya! Writing again. Great job. Summer is def. a different schedule. I'm still adjusting.

  4. This is cool. I'm too tired to tell the truth right now even though I am wide awake.

  5. My truth? Ive been slacking on my blog posting. I went from 3 times a week to a loose summer schedule of um, I suck. LOL Sounds like you're enjoying your summer - keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think it's great to slack off once in awhile and take a rest. My truth is that I feel too duty bound to follow the blogs I read regularly. It's making my days too long-ending reading blogs at 9:00 pm and I'm doing that more than writing. I've got to fix my priorities.

  7. I'm jealous that you've already read 52 books this year. Oh that I'd have to time to read that much! I want to and I've tried but everything else keeps getting in the way. At some point I'm going to abandon all my people and take a box of books up to a secluded mountain cabin. It would make me so happy!

    b) i CAN'T WAIT for July 1st. Just sayin.

    c) don't call my E a loser or i'll karate chop you.

  9. Yahoo, writing again. That's awesome. Yes you can, Yes you can. . .

My truth. . . I AM addicted to malt milk balls. Oh, and my hips are NOT enjoying that addiction at all!

But to admit it is the first step toward recovery, right?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sugar free tropical popsicles, BABY. I eat them like they're CRACK! I guess I'm summering too *lack of motivation-cough*

    ReplyDelete
  11. Congrats to the awesome winners!!!

Let the frawesomness begin, because there's a whole lot happening over here!

Who doesn't love a good lemonade bar... trust me I understand addiction, one a day!! That's hard to control!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Lemonade bars? I have to try those!

    Good luck with you WIP!

My truth? My husband wanted to go to the beach for Father's Day, and once again I wasn't prepared for wearing a suit. Why don't I ever start getting in shape in March?

Another truth, I've begun querying. Why not ruin a perfectly good summer with stress and anxiety.

  13. I have a slight to extremely major addiction to pudding pops. I'm not allowed in the dessert freezer section...of any store. I'm talking half a box in one sitting when I'm moderating.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow! On reading all those books. No wonder you don't have time for blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I know you can; I know you can...

No worries. Balancing is hard. That's what I wrote about yesterday on my blog and it's still up because...I'm cutting back. Just have to.

  16. Wow, 52 books! I wish I could find 52 books that I want to read.

My truth: I started a diet to lose 25 lbs by Feb. and I've gained 2 lbs. Not happy, now I have to lose 27 lbs, by Feb.

    ReplyDelete
  17. ooh you do a synopsis before the novel is complete? is it a full detailed synopsis? or more like and outline/scene list?

I'm addicted to snickers ice cream bars. OOOH and kempswiches

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yay! I'm so excited.

And I've been telling everyone about WriteOnCon!

My truth: I let my sister borrow my cell phone for 10 hours and I felt like I lost an appendage. It's my alarm clock, blog reader, twitter machine, nighttime sleep sound box, mp3 player, email device, game console, to do list, notepad, calendar/planner, timepiece, camera, GPS unit, flashlight, expense tracker, and... oh yeah, phone.

    I'm addicted

  19. Good luck on the new project - and wow on the 52 books read so far. Awesome!!

  20. Truth...don't tell my hubby or daughter...I ate two Little Debbie snack cakes last night! I never eat this kind of stuff...not since I was pregnant 15 years ago...It must be all of the fresh air...

I sat out in the sun yesterday and lost myself in a scene. It was great.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer E!

  21. 52 books so far--I'm jealous.

At least your addicted to something that's sort of healthy. Me I'm addicted to Chick-fil-A deluxe chicken sandwich with no pickles and a lemonade.

Summer = no work for me, which means EVERYTHING goes into high gear, reading blogs, reading, writing, revising.

Have a great one, can't wait for Writeoncon

  22. A summer of reading and watching TV sounds just about perfect. My truth? I've started watching Say Yes to the Dress religiously. It's a sickness.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Isn't summer great? I'm nearly meeting my goal of writing two hours a day on my first novel. Since it's tell the truth Tuesday, I didn't write at all yesterday--long story. Today will be better. It looks like thunderstorms will keep me inside.
Great reading! What are some of your favorite titles this year? If you do FB, there's a great reading group--Centurians for 2010. It's for readers who have set a goal of 100 books this year. I'm getting great titles.
I'd love to hear what books you recommend, especially closer to the time school starts. Would you be interested in writing a guest post for my 8th grade students on our blog? It's at www.kaymcgriff.edublogs.org

  24. Congrats to the winners! I totally wish I were summering.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You are no loser for summering!!

If it makes you feel any better, I am too. Unintentionally. I keep forgetting what day of the week it is, which is pathetic because I actually do have a life that needs attention. Trying to wake up!

    ReplyDelete
  26. My truth? My eyes hurt, I need to get off the computer, but I think I'm addicted.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Pretty sure that's more books than I've read in the last five years. Come back, childhood, come back!

    ReplyDelete
  28. While summering I'm finding it hard to be blogger friendly, yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yay for summering. Now, I just wish I could get back to actually writing....

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good luck on your new WIP!

An 50 books??? Wow! I think I'm going to try to read 100 books next year :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am summering, too. I am addicted to the lemonade bars, too (I ate one last night at 11:45!). I am way behind on my blogging, too, and suffer from extreme separation anxiety. I have NOT been writing and I have NOT started anything new - writerfail. LOL! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  32. My truth? I invented the Internet. Wait... What's the definition for "truth" again?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I haven't been reading many blogs, either. Twitter has become my drug of choice lately;)

And I'm addicted to Whachamacallit bars. I'm having to limit myself to one a day.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My truth is that yesterday I made a pact with a friend to stay off the internet, and a couple hours later I went online to blog about it. #fail

    ReplyDelete
  35. My truth is I spent so much time trying to read all the blogs participating in my blogfest, I didn't write at all yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Enjoy your summering. Hooray for writing again! And reading that much too. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  37. OKay I'm impressed with your reading, am also in love with those lemonade bars and am so stoked for writeoncon I'm going cross eyed!

My truth? I haven't worked on my MS since christmas break... and then it was for like a day. I feel like such a book abuser!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Elana, it's great that you are writing again!

Tell the truth Tuesday--Lately I have been hungry all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey, summer is for slacking! :) It should totally be a verb. I snack more in the summer too, but that's mostly because I have a huge weak spot for icy treats. Yum!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Summer has ruined my usual blog checking schedule. It's not my fault! ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have now added Dreyer's Lemonade Bars to my list of things to try. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. Sheesh, thanks Elana!;)
Oh and since it's Tell the Truth Tuesday, I have something to confess. Over at Sharon's blog, of Sharon Loves Books and Cats, she has a contest for Zombies vs. Unicorns. I admitted you'd be the blogger whose brains I would eat first. Whoa, I have my reasons though. I'd be really smart and who can resist the taste of all that awesomesauce. :) Enjoy summering!

    ReplyDelete
  42. 52 books? You put me to shame. Revision and everything else is KILLING me this year.

My truth--I'm supposed to email an author some interview questions tonight and I am drawing a BLANK. I'm having a hard time even remembering his books--and I only read them like 6 months ago. The Shannonbrain is officially mush.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love.

That's my truth. That's that's the whole story.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Congrats to the winners. And summering sounds fun. Wish I could join in, but tell the truth Tuesay dictates I admit I'm a work-a-holic.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Summering, I like that. Wow lady, 52 books?! You alone will keep the publishing industry afloat! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Truth:
I may have to discontinue my subscription to World of Warcraft it I want to finish my book.

Summer break has made me loose track of days and I didn't realize yesterday was Monday and my daughter's dance class. Oops. Luckily, she doesn't realize she missed it. Yet.

Now I have to try Lychee Martinis and the Lemonade Bars. Reading blogs is going to make me fat(ter).

    ReplyDelete
  47. Summering...I like that :)

I'm addicted to Bananas Foster. I started making it every day after lunch and now my kids are addicted too. SO. GOOD. Yum.

    Exercise is overrated ;P

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oooh, I won! Thanks, Elana.

Haven't tried the lemonade bars, but I keep the tangerine ones handy throughout the summer, and yes, I have to limit myself to one a day, too. :(

I've been inspired by a book on mythic structure to revise a story I shelved after agent rejections. That's my summer project.

Best wishes for your new WIP.
    ;-)

  49. Woo hoo! A new novel and shiny new goals. Good luck on achieving them. Your goals are way lofter than mine. I just want to read read read. I have so much to catch up on. :D

    ReplyDelete
  50. I LOVE those lemonade bars. They are so refreshing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Truth Be Told...I cried yesterday while writing a scene in my book and then today when I reread, I was like, what? This is drivel.

(BTW, have you ever played the game Truth Be Told? It's my new favorite-- We got it for Christmas last year.)

    ReplyDelete
  52. My truth is I've never had a Dreyer's lemonade bar! Sounds like I've been missing something awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Woohoo! I'm so excited! Thanks so much :)

I can't wait to be summering - another week & a day (not that I'm counting or anything...).

My truth is that I'm so tired I can barely stay awake to do anything productive. Come on summer!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Congrats to the winners!

You know, a little summering is okay. It helps you refresh for the non summer:)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm in mega-awe of the number of books you've been able to read this year. Respect.

By the by, there's an award for you on my blog.

  56. E, you are fabulous. I cannot tell a lie.

So, um, my truth? I'm thinking of throwing up my hands in defeat in yet another diet. *sigh* I suck :(
