Up first: The winner of the subscription to Danyelle Leafty's serialized novel, THE FAIRY GODMOTHER DILEMMA is: Natalie Aguirre!!
Congrats! Please email me at elanajohnson(at)gmail(dot)com with your mailing address and I'll get your information to Danyelle.
And if this week hasn't been awesome enough, I present you with...
Today, I give you an ARC of THE NEAR WITCH by Victoria Schwab. I loved this book, and I'll be featuring it during Bookanista Thursday very soon. Just believe me when I say you want it. Badly.
Here's a bit about it, since you might not know, since it's not out yet: The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children.
If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company.
And there are no strangers in the town of Near.
These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life.
But when an actual stranger—a boy who seems to fade like smoke—appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true.
The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him.
As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi’s need to know—about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.
To enter:
1. Leave a comment here by 10 PM Mountain time. (1 entry) Yes, it's that easy.*
2. Blog about this contest TODAY. (I am not doing twitter or facebook or Google+ or anything else. A blog post. You will get 1 entry for the blog post.)
That's all. I'm not doing a Google form or anything. Winners will be drawn from the comments of this post, and if you blogged about it, say so(!) so I can count you for 2 entries, okay?
Okay. The winner will be announced on Monday.
And since the title is THE NEAR WITCH, I have a "magic" related question: Have you seen Harry Potter yet?? Because holy Firebolts, Batman. You should get on that.
*All followers, old and new, will get an additional entry, but it is NOT required to follow my blog to win. Of course, I hope you do, because sometimes I say funny things, and give stuff away, and talk about books and bacon and any number of Adam Lambert hairstyles... So yeah.
Great contest week, Elana! I'd love to read this one.

ReplyDeleteOk, now on to Harry Potter: Oh. My. Gosh. I have been a die hard follower since I was in the third grade (yes, I am that young haha) and to see it all come to an end was heartbreaking and exciting at the same time. I thought the movie was FANTASTIC. For those of you that haven't seen it yet, even if you're not a huge fan, you have to. This is a movie everyone will love. There's not a moment of dull action.
So excited to read POSSESSION!
I got my blog address wrong :) Victim of Prophecy is the name of the series I'm working on. Victim of writing is the blog.

Sad as it is to say, I haven't seen the last HP movie. Part 1 or 2. Having small children seriously cuts into movie watching time and we didn't want to see 2 without seeing 1. It's a vicious cycle thing. We'll see it eventually, I know.
ReplyDeleteThanks for an awesome week of giveaways. You rock!
I can't wait to read this book. It sounds very good. No I havent seen Harry Potter yet. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com

And yes... I did see Harry Potter... midnight premiere. Amazing. Left a few bits out like the house elves role in the final battle but altogether... Awesome.
ooh, this does sound like a good book - nothing like a good ghost story. Alas I have not seen Harry, but I am heading to the mail shortly to pick up the Half Blood Prince (netflix) which I haven't yet seen. Also going to the library to see if they have a copy of your book!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm already sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what may be inside this scary book! I love ghost tales and moors. Nothing scarier than a dark moor. I'm so hoping to be selected as a winner to read and comment on this delicious sounding book. I'm commenting at Elana's blog as well.

Awesome I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I've watched HP-7 #2... It was good, just not what I was expecting. I had the ending of the book firmly in my mind, so I was a little disappointed. I wish they would have executed that better, but all in all, I’ll watch it again.

Too many books, too little time...
