Back to Business

Well, it's not like we haven't been down to business this whole time, but you know. It's July 2, which means we've all survived June!

I really can't believe how fast this past month went by. I need time to slow down in July, because then it will be August, and I'll have to go back to work!

But I'm celebrating the survival of June. I managed a major 40-stop blog tour. Edited two novels. Made my self-made deadline. Launched a book into the world, and blogged five days a week to do it. I haven't done that for a long time, and now it's back to business.

I'll be blogging three days a week (M, W, F), and there are still several SURRENDER tour stops this month that I'll be advertising, but for the most part, it'll be back to boring-Elana-land, where you'll be hearing about So You Think You Can Dance, and what movies I'm watching.

Hope you're ready for that.

What does July hold for you?

Be sure to check out Bibliosaurus Text for a review of SURRENDER.

  1. My kids started their vacation last week and don't go back to school until September. I'm trying to get use to not writing much. :(

July holds the RWA nationals for me and a trip to Disneyland with the kids (since the nationals are in Anaheim).

  2. Congratulations! What a month! I have family coming in for a visit. So there will be lots of trips to the ocean and lakes and time with family - with squeezing in writing time when I can!

  3. Congrats on such a productive month of June. We're going on vacation, then it's work, taking my daughter to swim, drivers ed, having her practice driving, and trying to start final revisions on my first book so I can query one day. And work on book 2. But my progress is way slower than yours.

And your blog posts are never boring. Not sure how you do it.

  4. I hope I will get my WIP finished in July (Only 5 chapters to go)and start planning a short story I've just signed on to do for a charity anthology.

In August -- I'm going to the Teotihuacan pyramids near Mexico City, which figure prominently in my WIP. I want to hold off the second draft until I've seen them with my own eyes!!

(So part of July will be spent dreaming about August!

  5. AH! Don't mention going back to work yet! Even though I love my job, I really love the free time to write and read to my heart's content. June went way too fast and was way too busy--hopefully, this month will be relaxing (but productive! I REALLY need to get this revision done and then polish-polish!).

    Happy almost 4th of July!

  8. wow you've been busy! Take some time to pamper yourself in July. Recharge your bubbles. :)
June was hectic for me too, so I'm looking forward to not having much on the calendar this month or next!

  10. July holds a bunch more revisions on my WiP, and critiquing my CP's WiP. It's pretty intense, but also really useful/fun. I'm looking forward (and a little scared) to querying this thing hopefully by the end of summer. :) Hope your July is productive but relaxing!

  12. Wow a 40 stop blog tour? That's great! And edited two novels. Yeah, June went by fast and it will be Aug before you know it.

    Hope you enjoy July too:)

  13. My June wasn't as busy as yours (obviously, as I didn't launch a book) but my July will be busier than my June. I'm trying to finish a WIP by the end of July, read four books, and start editing another project. That's on top of two holidays and LUW stuff, so, for me, it's going to be a busy month! :D

  14. My July will consist of me attempting the insane: Drafting a book in a month. I've never drafted that fast. Fingers crossed.

  15. Sounds like you had a crazy busy June! Hope July is awesome. We have too much going on. I think July should be called camping month, because we'll be doing more than I want of it. ;)

  17. If the temperatures in June are any indication of what July will be like, I fully expect to be melted next month! :)

  21. So glad you survived the new launch! I think it went fabulously though!

What am I doing in July? Writing a brand new manuscript for Scholastic! But at the moment, I'm just trying to stay cool . . . (as in temperature!)

  23. I agree with this. I love watching moments of triumph, no matter what the sport. And when I workout, I listen to songs that reflect those upcoming moments of triumph--the ones I'm waiting to experience myself.

Not going to lie. Those songs keep me going sometimes, because they remind me that my challenges aren't so different from those experienced by others, and that I, too, can reach my goal if I keep going.
