I Have No Post For Today

No, really, I don't. I had something else planned, well, let me back up. I had a title on this post. And then when I opened it to write said titled post, I couldn't remember what I was going to say.

I am that person.

So today, I thought I'd just throw something random out there. Not like I've never done that before. And now that I'm typing this, I realize that I could've just done this and not told anyone that I didn't have a post for today.

But I won't.

Because I am also that person. You know, the kind that lets you live inside my head. It somewhat cushy in here. Moist, but comfortable.

Anyway, I just wanted to toss out a couple of things. You get to answer, since I bared all yesterday, okay? Okay.

So...
1. Starburst or skittles?
2. Favorite season?
3. Morning person or night owl?
4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order?
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it?

ANSWER ME, people!

PS. My post was originally titled "School Visit Success." And yeah, can't remember what I was going to post. #lame

Hope you post the school visit one. I want to learn your tips.

And I appreciate your honesty. Lately I've been reader, blogger (comments), and writer last. I was plugging along in the writer but my daughter got sick and it hasn't been a good week for writing. But she's better now and I was a good mom. The first 2 weeks of February I have to survive so I'm not going to be too hard on myself writing-wise.

Ooh, fun :)

1. Starburst. I have no idea what they are, we don't have them in New Zealand, but I hate skittles, so they win.
2. Winter.
3. Night Owl. (It's 1.11am in NZ as I type and I'm nowhere near ready for sleep)
4. Writer, reader, blogger, in that order.
5. Paper Towns by John Green and American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I can never read just one book at a time, and American Gods is loooong.

I'm here to answer your every question, So here goes.

1. Starburst all the way! Especially the ____ & Cream ones!
2. Summer, I guess. Time to travel more!
3. Totally night owl! At the time of posting this comment (7 AM), I have yet to go to bed.
4. I'm a big reader and also blogger.
5. Currently reading Wither by Lauren DeStefano and loving it!

Love this! Don't feel bad, I do stuff like that everyday, I blame it on my work.

1. Skittles
2. Summer because I do not have to work!
3. Night Owl, some days I want to cry when the alarm goes off.
4. Writer, Reader, Blogger
5. Almost finished with Across The Universe by Beth Revis and it is amazing!

4. All of the above - the order depends on the day and the mood - usually writer, reader, blogger :)
5. I'm reading Hush Hush and enjoying it!

Panster!

1. Neither. I'm not a big candy fan, but I do like a Reese's peanut butter cup here and there. Or chocolate with caramel.
2. Spring and autumn - tie. But I'm off in summer, so...
3. Used to be a night owl before all of this responsibility.
4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? Depends on the day. But if I were to describe myself, writer.
5. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice and The Maze Runner and Whiter Shades of Pale. Last book read - Uglies.

How about you? What are you reading? What have you just finished?

Here goes:
1) Skittles- no wrapper, you can just pop them into your mouth.
2) Winter with snow (although Fall and Spring are creeping closer to 1st)
3) Middle of the day seems to be my best.
4) Reader, writer, blogger.
5) Just finished Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. I enjoyed it!

I like how I see you post title and I still run right over!

1. Starburst
2. Fall and Spring (it's a tie; I like mild temperatures)
3. Morning person
4. All of the above!
5. Switched by Amanda Hocking

1. Neither. M&M's or chocolate covered bacon
2. Summer
3. Morning all the way
4. All. In the order you typed them.
5. Kitchen Confidential, by Anthony Bourdain. It's a dated look at life inside the New York restaurant industry. Bourdain is as irreverant as they come. Man though, can he write about food so yes, I liked it.

Matthew MacNish said...

You wrote a post about not having a post? I love that. I do it all the time.

1) Stardust?
2) Fall
3) Night Owl
4) All of the above in whatever order I want.
5) Just finished The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith. This book is disturbing as hell, but truly wonderful. I loved it.

1. Starburst or skittles?
skittles. It really is like tasting a rainbow...

2. Favorite season? Fall. I love the smell of decaying leaves and chimney smoke.

3. Morning person or night owl? Both. With three kids, I don't really have a choice. Stay up late to get everything 'I' want to do done. Get up early because everyone needs me. I usually hop in the shower right out of bed. It helps.

4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order? Reading is probably my first love. Then writing. Then blogging.

5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? One of Lisa Kleypas's wallflower novels. I do like it but haven't finished it yet.

Thanks for the questions!

5. Currently reaing sister (see my currently reading page) hopefully finish it today

Kelly Lyman said...

We are the same person! There are way too many times that I have an idea for a post but can't remember what I was going to post about!

1. Skittles-although if you eat too much of the rainbow your mouth starts to hurt

2. Fall- bonfires, football, leaves changing colors and it's a great time for wine/beer tastings

3. Mid-morning- I hate getting up too early (would love to sleep until 8am, but I have three kids) and I like to be in bed by 10.

4. Reading and Writing are tie. There are times when I'm really into writing my story that that is all I want to do. I become obsessed with getting the story down. Then there are times when I just want to read. Blogging comes last.

5. I just finished reading Water for Elephants. I liked it. It wasn't what I expected (which I really don't know what was). I'm used to reading YA so it was a nice change of pace/storyline for me. I just started reading The Hunger Games...I know. I'm late reading it. I'm only on chapter 4 but like it.

4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order?
All of the above and so closely intertwined it's just hard to say anything about order.
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it?
I am currently reading Wicked Lovely. (finally) I'm not sure what I think of it yet.

1. I'm not a chewy fruit-flavored candy person, so I'll go with chocolate.
2. Spring!
3. Night owl.
4. d.) all of the above! In no particular order because I read/write/blog whenever the fancy strikes me.
5. I'm currently reading Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink. I like it. I just finished Incarceron... I LOOOOOVED it.

Happy Wednesday to you!

B.E. Sanderson said...

LOL... fine. I'll answer you. =op

1. Neither. I don't like food that sticks in my teeth.
2. Spring!
3. All the coolest people are night owls, right? Which is why I'm a morning person. ;o)
4. All of the above in whichever order works for me on any given day.
5. I'm pleading the fifth on the title. I've said too many things about this book around the interwebs and I'm still trying to figure out if I like the book enough to finish it. In some ways, it's really awesome and in other it's just so disappointing.

Happy now? ;o)

3.Night owl all the way.

4.All of the above, in various orders depending on what's going on in my life. Right now, Writer, Blogger, Reader. But Soon Reader will take over for Blogger.

5.I'm reading a few at once! The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing: Vol. One by MT Anderson is AMAZING - I wish I could write like him. He's a master. I'm also reading Matched by Ally Condie, which I'm enjoying (I love me some dystopian YA), and Me and the Blondes, by Theresa Toten, which I'm also enjoying. Also some non-fiction on angels for my YA WiP, and a bunch of picture books. Whew!

4) Reader, writer, and lame blogger (I think my last post was in the summer).
5) The Hallow Kingdom by Dunkle. One of my all time favorite books and I just had to reread it again.

2. Night owl. I don't do mornings.
3. All of the above. Typically in that order, although really it depends on the week.
4. Just finished an ARC of The Fourth Stall by Chris Rylander last night. Awesome debut MG novel!

Shannon Schuren said...

Thanks for letting us inside your head :)

1. Starburst
2. Spring
3. Morning, definitely. My brain doesn't function after 8pm
4. Is it wrong that I can't answer this one? I was a reader first, and now I constantly struggle between reading and writing. When I'm doing one, I want to be doing the other.

5. Just finished "A Tale Dark and Grimm" - very funny and gruesome. Just picked up "The Tower, The Zoo, and The Tortoise." Not sure where it's going yet, but I like the author's style.

Kristi said...

1 - Honestly, this is just cruel. I refuse to choose and this question is causing me stress, like choosing a favorite child. BOTH!

2 - Ah, much easier. Fall!
3 - Night Owl turned Morning Person!
4 - All of the above. Order - Reader, Writer, Blogger
5 - Currently reading Confessions of a Vampire's Girlfriend by Katie MacAlister - so far it's light and easy with a good story.

Misty Waters said...

1. Starburst or skittles? Both. Always both.

2. Favorite season? Spring.
3. Morning person or night owl? I would make the best vampire ever.

4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order? Definitely all of the above and in that exact order.

5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? The last book I finished was Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning and it was so good I may never pick up another book again. Okay, that's not entirely true, but it's been a week and I can't imagine it right now.

1. skittles

4. All. All. All. Reader, Writer, Blogger
5. Just finished What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen. I absolutely loved it.

Tracey Neithercott said...

1. Pink Starbursts and red Skittles. But I'd really rather have a Snickers.

2. Fall. If you know of anywhere in the world that's fall year-round, lemme know. I will be moving there ASAP.

3. I'm a natural night owl forced into submission by corporate America. Which is why I'm even awake to be commenting before noon.

4. All of the above. Since I'm trying to get published, I'd say the order now is writer, reader, blogger.

5. I just finished Across the Universe and I think you can guess how I felt about that. (Love.) Next I want to read Looking for Alaska, but I have a ton of work to do and I know John Green's books are unputdownable. I'm staying away for productivity's sake.

Eric said...

Honestly Elana, why do you ever pretend your posts are lame? Even your "No Real Subject" posts attract us in droves :)

Here's my answer anyway:

1. Skittles definitely. Starburst gets stuck in your teeth too easy, and don't let 'em get old. Tough as cement.

2. Summer. The hotter the better. I'm kind of a lizard, so baking in the hot weather is just my cup of tea.

3. Night Owl, even though I never sleep in. It's mostly because I start work very early. If I weren't working here though (i.e. Full Time Writer), I imagine I could sleep in and work late into the night.

4. All three, hopefully with Writer being first. I don't have time to do as much reading as I'd like, and yeah, my blogging skills probably could be improved.

5. Reading Dead Or Alive by Tom Clancy and The Hero Of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. Ol' Tom seems to have lost a bit of his flair after not putting anything out for a decade. Brandon however, has fully captured my attention. His book is the last of a trilogy and I'm really enjoying it.

I feel somewhat responsible for the memory loss...we should have brainstormed ideas last night!

Anywhokins,
1. Reese's
2. Autumn, spring is a close second
3. Neither, or rather, both.
4. Reader, writer, blogger, but the order of priority is constantly changing.
5. THE HELP - for my communications class, and it is excellent. I am also reading MATCHED, but since recreational reading is currently on the bottom of the priority list, I am stuck at a cliffhanger and can't do anything about it.

I WANNA KNOW ABOUT THE SCHOOL VISIT! Bullet point it to get your memory back.

Misha Gerrick said...

I'm that person too. That's why I write the post first and then add the title. ;-)

1) Skittles. Every. Time.
2) In the summer it's winter. In the winter it's summer. Don't ask why.
3) Both. I can stay awake for a very long time, sleep two hours sometime, stay awake for another long time. Eventually, I will fall asleep and wake up at least a day later. The trick is that I never know when the great crash can be. My record is 4 days, average of 2.5 hours sleep. Followed by eighteen hours of pure oblivion.

Too much info?
You did insist. ;-)
4)Writer. Reager.
5) Just finished Garden of Beasts by Jeffrey Deaver. Was ok... but left me... well... empty. Not in a good way.

Thanks for posting the original blog title. For a moment I thought I was doing to die of curiosity.

3. Definitely a night owl. I feel like crying every morning when it's time to wake up.

5. I just finished reading Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, which is probably the best book I've ever read. Now I'm reading Girl, Stolen. I don't really like it, but it has similar elements to my WIP, so I feel like I have to finish it.

1. Skittles are my go-to "keep me awake" candy for the drive to California.
2. Late Spring - Early Summer: when the temperature is just right.
3. Night Owl. My nickname in the mornings could be Growling Bear.
4. Reader & Blogger. I probably read more than I blog.
5. Just finished #5 in the Septimus Heap series. I liked it. I have a lot of questions that need to be answered so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on #6.

I had a similar post problem. I wrote up a title and then had no idea what I was going to say, so I switched topics. :P

1. Starburst
2. Summer (though I do love boots and coats and scarves)
3. Night owl
4. All of the above in that order.
5. I'm currently reading Light Boxes by Shane Jones; it's quite lovely. I just finished Matched by Ally Condie and really liked it!

1. I recently rediscovered Skittles, WHICH IS NOT A GOOD THING THEY ARE SO AMAZING NOMNOMNOMNOM.

2. Fall or spring. Extreme cold and/or heat don't treat me well.

3. Night owl by preference, morning person by necessity. (I work at a coffee shop.)

4. The order depends on what's going on. I just stopped being writer-reader-blogger and I'm going to be reader-blogger-writer for a while.

5. Just finished Anna and the French Kiss. It was excellent. In fact, in honor of its excellence I made my first v-log to review it. Posted it today! :)

1. Starburst
2. Spring
3. Hoot Hoot
4. Write and Read...then blog.
5. Crescendo. Mostly. I'm kind of a romantic so I was bothered by the situation. :)

I'm reading RAMPANT and loving it! How can I not? I mean come on, killer unicorns. That is so awesome! And I'm a writer, reader, then blogger. While I love all three that is the order of their importance to me!

What is this, like a "Yes, we have no bananas" kind of post? LOL

1. Euuuwwww, I hate Skittles. So it would be Starburst (and even those feel kinda annoying on my teeth).
2. I love spring! Everything warms up and looks lovely again.
3. Night owl, generally.
4. Writer predominantly. Blogger and reader in that order after that, these days.
5. I just finished reading INCARCERON by Catherine Fisher--very nice writing, but I was irked that it left me hanging a little (part 1 in a series)

Have a happy Wednesday, Elana!

Love this!!! And don't feel bad just because you have short term memory loss. It happens.lol

1-Starbursts
2-Spring(which here is like your summer in Utah)
3-Night Owl (hello, mornings are my enemy)
4-Writer-Reader-Blogger (altho' for years I have to say Reader first)
5-I am having a hard time remembering, but I think it was Paranormalcy. Loved it. The Holidays thru my schedule off and I need to pick up a few more books asap!

Neither - Good N Plenty

Moment of the popping Red Buds

11pm - 5am the sacred writing hours

Yes that is the order WR...I just started blogging...so it really can't be called blogging yet...lol. That would require readers...I am talking to myself. Grin...that counts right?

The Art of Woo, The Book of Kings, the Hunger Games...

1. Starburst, because they don't have the crunchy-ish outside that gets stuck in your teeth.
2. Spring. Perfect weather, plus beautiful scenery.
3. Night owl. No question.
4. All of the above. I used to be Reader, Writer, Bloger; now, for some reason, I don't read as much as I did, so I'm probably Writer, Reader, Blogger.
5. I just finished CODE TALKER, by Joseph Bruchach. It's about the Navajo code talkers during WW2. It's told more in story-telling fashion than an actual story, but I loved it. I learned a lot and felt like he was able to weave in a ton of historical information in a non-boring way.

1. Skittles (or just chocolate)
2. Fall. I love the pretty foliage!
3. Ha. Neither. I like that time in between (you know, during the day) What can I say? I like sleep!
4. All of the above, in this order: writer, reader, blogger
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? I just finished ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS and...OMG, it was amazing. I loved it so much. It's now one of my favorite books!

Kay said...

1. Why not chocolate?
2. FAll - as a teacher it's my time of new beginnings when anything seems possible.
3. Morning
4. Reader, blogger, writer, in that order. In the summer, writer moves up.
5. I'm currently reading Football Hero by Tim Green, which I won't finish for tomorrow's book club if I grade any papers and Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult.

Karen Lange said...

1) Starburst. Then Skittles. If there's no chocolate around.

2)Fall

3)Used to be a morning person but somehow I've turned into a night owl. Maybe keeping up with blogging is to blame? It's possible. :P

4)Writer first, then reader, with blogger coming in close after that.

5)Reading Levi's Will by W. Dale Cramer. Enjoying it much more than I thought I would.

This was fun, Elana! I didn't see any chocolate bacon questions, though...:)

1. Pink Starbursts and purple skittles
2. Autumn - living near mountains, it's really the only option ~ :)
3. Night owl
4. It should go: Writer, Reader, Blogger, but lately it's the opposite...
5. Just finishing up The Reformed Vampire Support Group, by Catherine Jinks. Not bad, not bad at all. Next will be Beautiful Creatures and Leviathan.

Thanks for asking!

1. oh boy, too hard! I love them both. But particularly the green skittles from the purple bag, or the fizzie skittles, or any tropical flavored starburst. Now I'm craving candy.
2. Boy, that is also hard. But probably summer the absolute most.
3. I used to be a morning person as a kid, then a night owl as a teen, now I'm just tired all of the time. ;)
4. Writer, reader, blogger.
5. I just finished Anna and the French Kiss not too long ago and LOVED it. Also there was this frawsome book called POSSESSION...!! :D

Nicole Zoltack said...

1. Starburst - haven't had them in a long time but they're so much better than skittles
2. Spring. I love that the days get longer and warmer. Then summer, fall, and winter dead last.
3. Definitely a night owl.
4. All of the above - writer, blogger, reader
5. Club Dead. I really liked the first Sookie book. The second not so much. The third is kinda meh. I'm hoping they get better though.

Love your honesty, Elana. It helps those of us who think we're just going nuts....

1. Starburst or skittles? Starburst. Better flavors
2. Favorite season? Early fall or late spring. I love the colors.
3. Morning person or night owl? Night owl, most definitely. Natural inclination to staying up as late as possible and then sleeping in as much as I can ;)
4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order? All of the above. 1. Reader 2. Writer 3. Blogger
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? Currently reading Stone Kissed by Keri Stevens. Since I'm reading it on the Nook app for PC, I'm reading slowly. Not a big e-reader fan. Also not a big romance fan, but Keri's a really great writer. I'm enjoying Stone Kissed quite a bit.

1. Starburst or skittles? BOTH! But if I have to choose... skittles. It feels like less candy when they're little. :)
2. Favorite season? Spring. You appreciate the warmth without more after winter!
3. Morning person or night owl? Well, night owl, I suppose. But I can't be because I have to wake up for work. Darn work always getting in the way.
4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order? Er. Reader. Librarian. Blogger. That about sums it up.
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? Currently reading Last Sacrifice (Vamp. Academy) by Richelle Mead. I'm hooked! :)

Starburst (but I prefer gummi bears)
Autumn
Newly minted night owl
Reader, Writer, Blogger (although, I'm trying to reverse reader and writer)
Finishing up American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's superb.

1. Starburst or skittles? (Starburst)

2. Favorite season? (Fall)

3. Morning person or night owl?(Night Owl)

4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? (All of the above-in that order)

5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? (Mistborn, by Brandon Sanderson… half way through, and it’s ok, so far.)

Steena Holmes said...

Sometimes you are so demanding ;) LOL Fine - I'll answer you.

1. Starburst or skittles? Chocolate Elana. Where is the chocolate!!!
2. Favorite season? Late spring
3. Morning person or night owl? I like my sleep. I hate getting woken up when all I want to do is sleep.
4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order? All of the above. No order ... whatever suits my fancy for the day.
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? The Secret of Lost Things - it was okay. Not fantastic. But not one I wanted to quit halfway through either.

Skittles AND Starbursts (I have many crowns on my teeth because of my love of candy)

Season...summer. Water skiing rocks.
Morning person. Falls asleep during movies.
Writer, reader AND blogger. In that order.
Currently reading "True Colors" by Kristin Hannah. Love it!

Thanks for the fun. You can NOT have a prepared blog post any time, and we'll still come around just for the fun of it!

Sierra Gardner said...

1. Starburst or skittles?
Skittles, because they bring back memories of stuffing handfuls of skittles into my mouth (skittles game) at our church girl's camp.

2. Favorite season?
Winter. Crazy right? I love bare trees, especially on the east coast. Fall runs a close second.

3. Morning person or night owl?
Definitely a night owl. Definitely.

4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order?
All of the above. Probably reader, writer, blogger.

5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it?
I've been on a sci-fi/fantasy kick lately so I just finished Hart's Hope by OSC (was a little too weird for me) and am reading The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula LeGuin (and really liking it). Also managed to fit in A Wind in the Door by Madeline L'Engle last week, a few Dr. Seuss books for our book club this week and Cold Comfort Farm somewhere in the middle. That was fantastic.

Colene Murphy said...

Lol! Don't you love those awe crap moments where you have nothin'?

1. Skittles
2. Summer
3. Night
4. All!!
5. Iron King. It's okay

I have to send text messages to myself when a blog post idea strikes me so I don't forget. It's kind of embarrassing ;)

1. Skittles (although cherry flavored Starbursts are pretty amazing)
2. Fall (or autumn, if you want to be literary)
3. Night owl
4. I am a writer, then a blogger, then a reader. I think. It's really kind of a toss-up. Odd ...
5. "Olive Kitteridge" by Elizabeth Strout, "The Kennedy Women" by Lawrence Leamer, and a YA vampire series recommended by a student (can't think of the title, but the main character's name is Vlad and he sustains his vampire urges with bags of donated blood his guardian sneaks home from the hospital)

1. Starburst (Skittles are evil M&M impersonators...grrr.)
2. In Florida, that would be winter. I can walk to my car without sweating through my clothes and there are no impeding hurricanes looming in the distance waiting to rip the roof off my apartment :) Winter is when Floridians get to enjoy the outdoors, although there are a lot more lost tourist, which slow down traffic and make Floridians even crankier than they already are (in Miami, at least).
3. Morning person or night owl? Hmmm, neither and both at the same time. Not sure how, but that makes sense in my head.
4. Writer? Reader? Blogger? All of the above? In what order? All of the above. Hmmm. Well I was a reader first, but now I spend an even amount of time on writing and reading. Blogging is third, though I love it!
5. What book are you currently reading/just finished and did you like it? I am finishing Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. I decided to re-read the series from start to finish so I guess that answers the rest of the question, lol. I'm also reading Plot and Structure by Bell, and my Writing Fiction text book. Oh...and I love them all (especially HP), even the text book :)
