Okay, so around October of last year, I became dissatisfied with my current hairstyle. (That sounds so professional. Dissatisfied…) Anyway, I've pretty much had the same hair cut for about eight years. Some might say it's because I'm so consistent. Yeah, let's go with that.
Anyway, so I was out enjoying the last of the fall sunshine at Gardner Village. While eating lunch, I saw a woman and she had the cutest hair cut. Now, if I would have been with my husband and kids, I would have said how much I liked it, received some noncommittal grunt in return and that would have been the end of it.
As it was, I was with two sister-in-laws and my mother-in-law. I mentioned it, expecting the same gutteral noise I always get from the DH. I should have known better. My SIL jumps up and tells the woman how much we love her hair. After much gushing by all, out comes the cell phone and pictures are taken.
I love my sister-in-laws.
Anyway, I took the picture to my stylist (as they are called these days), but my hair wasn't long enough in the front. So she cut it in the style, with the intention that it would look more the way it was supposed to the next time I came in.
This was Thanksgiving. I haven't been back because I've been see-sawing with myself over what I really want to do with it. Sometimes I think it looks like claymation. Sometimes I think it looks all right. Sometimes I think it looks like a toupee. It's really been quite embarrassing to go out in public at all.
Until yesterday. That's right. I got a haircut.
And since I *heart* those infomercials with the before and after pictures, I took some of my own. Hee hee.
Before: Yeah, see why I can't go out in public? Ugh. Not to mention that I have no makeup on in this picture and I haven't tweezed in, like, forever. There's only so much a girl can do.
And...after:
Yes, I dyed it. Dark. Really, really dark. No, I am not a vampire. Nor do I want to be a vampire. I just like dark hair. I might put some highlights in it later on. Maybe some red, whatev. Cuz hair just isn't hair unless it's not your natural color. At least that's my mantra.
I love it. Love is not even a strong enough word for how I feel about my hair right now. It's finally long enough in the front to pull off the whole holy-crap-my-hair-is-like-fifty-different-lengths look.
Here's another one from the side so you can see how uber-short the back is. I haven't actually had to do it myself yet, and that may be a little problematic. We'll see.
And yes, I did take in Adam Lambert's picture. I'm sort of channeling his sultry look in this photo, which I know Kate is just gonna love. Oh well, I've been doing the photos forever and it's annoying. So there. That's as good as they're gonna get.

Sooooo cute. I wish I had the guts to get a hair cut. Mine is long because I'm a lazy chicken.
I love your new look. Hooray!
Hmmm. It reminds me of someone. Can't quite put my finger on it. *grin, wink*
Looks great!!
There are few things as satsifying in life as a GREAT haircut. Yay!!!
I got the best word: pugardin. You know that's where they grow pugs, right? ;-)
oooo cute!!! I soooo need a haircut. I only get one when my mom comes to visit, cause she takes me out to get it done :D And since she only visits when I give birth (and that ain't happening anytime soon), I'm probably stuck with the mop on my head...until I get sick of it, whip out the scissors and take matters into my own hands (so to speak) :D
LOL - I do love the cheesy smoldering look, and I can totally tell that you are channeling Adam Lambert!
That haircut is too cute, and I love the color! A little bit of red in there would be really great too.
Hmm... this really makes me want a haircut too now...
Looks awesome! I love short hair. I may copy it next time I decide to chop it all off.
Adam Lambert, eat your heart out! Love it love it love it! You are such a babe!
Love the cut, and the color--absolutely beautiful!
I love your hair, too.
And now, every time I see Adam on A.I., I think of you! : )
It looks like the perfect hair to do a Meme in, winks, if say, I tagged you for a Meme, like I did?
You can read about it on my blog, but, it's the meme Seven Degrees of Separation, where you list seven things about yourself, and pick five blogs to tag.
Em
Wow, you look FAB! Really, I love that color!
I LOVE IT!! I'm soooo jealous that you are brave enough to go that short!! I've been dying to do that too and just.can't.do.it. *sigh*
Thanks for all the hair love guys! My principal said the same thing as you Jess. She called me bold, right after she figured out who I was! She (and several other teachers) were gossiping about the "new sub" in the office when I came in! LOL!!
Em, I didn't see you tag! Rest assured, you have saved me from an afternoon of writing--I got my post ready for this week! Woo Hoo!
I'm so glad that when you all are watching AI, you'll be thinking of me. That makes me snarf!
Archetype! Pug garden! Can't. Stop. Laughing. You get the crown today.
Kate, I hope you weren't drinking tea when you looked at those pictures. Tee hee.
Michelle. Srsly. Tell me you do not cut your own hair. That deserves like a medal or something. I could never.
Great pics, Elana. You love FANTASTIC.
What a wonderful haircut! It looks amazing on you! It's also great that you're so pleased with it. Love the darker color too. :)
Love the new do! I'm a huge fan of changing up hairstyles and colors and now I'm totally tempted to do something drastic over here...
Not that you need more comments or anything, but I just had to say, "Holy Layers, Batman!" :) The pictures are much better now that you've lightened them. But somehow, your hair is still just as dark. :)
